Jan Ho and Penny Jones led a meet in the Blue Mountains for Sport Climbing 101 graduates.

Joined by eight course graduates and two activity leaders, they climbed at the Soft Parade at Mount York, and the Sunbath at Medlow Bath. They enjoyed cool and dry weather, and the rain stayed away just long enough for the meet to finish.

The meet started with climbing in small teams with one leader and two participants, to help people get to know each other, and consolidate skills from Sport Climbing 101. Then for the rest of the meet, people climbed independently. People had the opportunity to climb at new crags, on new types of rock, and with new kinds of anchors. We climbed a range of routes between grade 8 and grade 18.

At the Soft Parade, standout climbs included an overhang called Mita’s Match, a chimney called Erotic Rock and a mini-adventure called A Bird’s Eye on a Banana Bender. At the Sunbath, the group enjoyed classics including the first pitch of Schwing, and Until Death Do Us Part.
