Dagobah Bouldering

12 intrepid Padawan's joined our Jedi Masters (Craig and Jess) to explore the Outer Rim area, high above Corin Road, ACT. After a 35 min walk to 1400m along a mixture of fire trails and single trail, we got a tour of the Dagobah bouldering area by one of the areas co-developers (Duncan Brown and Craig Schmieden). Duncan and Craig developed the area in 2025 and Canberra climbers now get to experience the wonder of this new granite bouldering area thanks to their mammoth efforts.Trip highlights include:

  • Craig Schmieden (our Jedi guide) is an absolute delight, and we are extremely grateful to him and his family for showing us around. His enthusiasm and support were 12/10. 
  • The group had great camaraderie, and we all had a wonderful time. 
  • The location and weather was fabulous, maybe a little hot in the sun, but the shade provided perfect friction.
  • An offering was made at the temple! The boulder problems were varied, interesting, challenging and fun.
  • Some participants completed their projects, some had their first taste of granite, and we claimed 5 first ascents; a first for a CCA meet.
