Tianjara Meet - May 2026Date:

Trip Report
On a beautiful autumn Saturday in early May, 11 CCA members descended the rungs to the Indian Head section of Tianjara Falls Crag. This part of Tianjara has a lot to offer with its fun descent and fairy glen vibe. It it gives climbers options to climb long classics in the sun and shade. First stop was the spectacular 30m high Impressionist Wall. The group spread out across the wall to set up draws and ropes which were then shared by the group. Working Woes of a Worried Wombat on the far left which involves a hang over the void on the descent was thoroughly enjoyed. The close proximity of many good climbs allowed the group to get some good mileage in a short time. One intrepid pair even climbed all the sport routes on the wall in one session, while the rest of us explored some classics in the afternoon shade on Drop Bear / Fairytale Wall including Heebie Jeebies and Drop Bears do Exist. Some worked on Edging in the blank middle of the wall and a couple explored Redneck Robbers on nearby Sahara Wall. The CCA is all about creating a welcoming climbing community here in Canberra and the Tianjara meet exemplified that ethos. We had a mix of long term Canberra climbers, newer climbers recently completing the inaugural CCA Sport Climbing 101 course, climbers returning to the scene of the crime after a long hiatus and climbers who recently moved to Canberra. It was a great day out with great people. Hope to see you at the next meet. Route List
