NOTE: We've reached capacity for this event, we've got a wait list going but there's already quite a few people on it. We'll have some more events scheduled in the near future.

Come along for a weekend of sport climbing at easily accessible single-pitch crags. If you are new to the club, new to Canberra, or in for some relaxed social climbing, this is a great chance to enjoy a variety of routes and connect with fellow climbers. If the weather works well for us, our plan is to climb at The Soft Parade (Mt. Victoria) and Sunbath Wall (Medlow Bath). Both crags offer excellent winter climbing and an opportunity to try and chase some much-loved winter sun in one of the most beautiful climbing destinations in the world – the Blue Mountains NSW.

Participation

This trip is for independent, self-sufficient and competent sport climbers. This event is for current CCA members only. You cannot join CCA on the day of the event (see note about CCA membership below).

Trip Leaders for the Meet will be Jan Ho & Penny Jones. Event registration is required and will be available through the CCA website.

Note:This activity is for current (paid) CCA members. If you’re not a member yet, please join online first via our website: https://canberraclimbing.org.au/. Your membership is active as soon as you’ve completed the online signup and payment, and you can then register straight away.

Accommodation

Trip participants can camp for free at the Mt York Campground, a hot-spot and regular haunt for all climbers whether they be weekend warriors or dirtbag fanatics. The free campgrounds provide toilets and fire pits, but we will need to ensure we have our own water and wood. It's also fine if participants would prefer to organise their own separate accommodation and we can coordinate meeting at the car-park in the mornings before walking into the crag.

What to bring

Independent sport climbers are expected to bring their own climbing gear and equipment. All climbing gear MUST be in serviceable condition and ropes, harnesses, helmets and slings MUST be no more than 10 years old. All climbing equipment MUST be purpose-designed and certified for use for climbing. All equipment will be inspected prior to activities.

Please bring your own food, water, personal first aid kit, hat, sunscreeen and appropriate clothing for cold weather. The crags selected do get a bit of sun, but as always be prepared for what could be chilly and windy conditions. The Blue Mountains are known to be pretty cold in winter.

Climbing routes

Check out thecrag.com for climbing route details. The Trip Leader will be able to supply guidebooks for reference on the trip.

Transportation

You are encouraged to coordinate carpooling with other participants, using the MemberJungle app. If you carpool in another member's car, you'll be expected to contribute towards fuel costs.

Etiquette

This CCA climbing Meet follows Leave No Trace Principles. If you are unfamiliar, please read up on this here

No smoking or vaping at the crag.
